A fascinating interplay of nature and history
Cala Pi in the municipality of Llucmajor is considered oldest known settlement in Mallorca. The natural harbour in the picturesque bay and the rocky cliffs offered the first settlers protection from storms and waves. Even today, the Bronze Age settlement of Capocorb Vell, just five kilometres away, offers insights into historical life in this place. Capocorb Vell, with its mysterious stone ruins, is considered one of the most important archaeological sites on the sunny Balearic island.

At the southeastern entrance to the bay, next to Torre de Cala Pi, there is a particularly beautiful view of the sea and the cliffs. The watchtower, built in 1663, offered the village protection from attacks by corsairs from North Africa. A safe stone staircase with 147 steps leads down over the rocky cliffs to the beach. Behind the white, flat sandy beach of the bay, the small Torrent de Cala Pi River, which only carries water after heavy rainfall, flows into the sea.

The main attraction of Cala Pi is its unique coastline. The beach fits romantically between two naturally formed rock walls. The beach is approximately 50 metres wide and extends 125 metres into the gorge of the Torrent de Cala Pi. The beach is patrolled by a wooden tower where lifeguards are stationed. A small beach bar caters to the physical needs of hungry and thirsty guests. The beach's infrastructure offers modern showers, toilets, and sun lounger rental.

as on other beaches on the island, is also a no-go here, even in high season. On weekends and public holidays, beach life can occasionally become lively with sunny summer weather, as the unadulterated, natural surroundings are also very popular with locals. The gently sloping coastline is a true Paradise for snorkelers.Not only in front of the imposing rocks is there a diverse underwater world to explore and admire. Those with appropriate equipment can also embark on a proper dive.
The idyllic bay is a magical spot for sailors and motorboat captains. Its particularly sheltered location and low swell allow even beginners to get involved. Off the west side of the beach area, there are various small boathouses and shelters. One of the boathouses features an additional relaxation room for unwinding and a jetty for taking a dip in the refreshing waters. During the main season, there is a A variety of luxury yachts to admire, anchoring in the protected bay.
What is more beautiful than that Golfing in a sea breeze under the Mediterranean sun.In the immediate vicinity of Cala Pi, there are two 18-hole golf courses, Golf Son Antem and Golf de Maioris. The modern Golf de Maioris, which opened in 2016, covers an area of 60 hectares.
Shops, Restaurants and Hotels in the town centre
Cala Pi is a picturesque spot characterised by stylish villas with colourful, flower-adorned gardens. The narrow main street runs parallel to the coast and exudes a calm, Mediterranean way of life. The pretty little church Our Lady of the Angels is a sight worth seeing. In the quiet little town, there are two small hotels near the beach with restaurants and bars, which offer delicious fish specialities and other delicacies without animators and entertainers.
For those who fancy extensive shopping trips, Llucmajor, the next town, is the perfect place to be. Cala Pi itself only has small shops, primarily offering food and everyday necessities. However, the village does surprise with a variety of lovely restaurants and cafes, which, with their location and... impressive good cuisine score points.

Things worth seeing and experiencing in the local area
To the east, Cala Pi transitions into the settlement of Vallgornera. Here you will find many holiday apartments and properties with magnificent flower gardens, which offer a worthwhile destination for a stroll. The main attraction of Vallgornera is impressive caves with underground rivers, lakes, stalagmites and stalactites. The Covas des Pas de Vallgornera, which is more than six kilometres long, is considered to be the longest cave in the Balearic Islands.
Just a few kilometres south of Cala Pi lies the island of Cabrera, which can be reached by excursion boats. It is almost uninhabited and, at the beginning of the nineties, was designated National Park explained. It invites you to visit the famous Cova Blava, the Blue Grotto. To the east, at a distance of 15 kilometres, you will find the S'Estanyo marina and the well-known natural beach Es Trenc, one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in Europe, where nudists can also enjoy themselves.
